You know how it is - you hear that some birds are around and showing well, and with a little luck you get there at the right time. I have been looking for these over the years but things conspire against you and it doesnt happen. Within an hour of arriving at the wetlands reserve in Newport, and there they are.
This male was within a party of about six, flying up together in the air as if displaying, and then landing to feed on the seed heads.


Oct 4th, 500mm, D7000-- Iso 800 because I left my tripod at home, so hand-held! ( Ive got terribly shaky hands).
